Winamp is more than just a player. It's your window to the multimedia world. From MP3s to streaming video, Winamp is the one place you go to feed your audio/video habit. Winamp features our new Modern Skin that's easier to use and more powerful than ever. Easily access the Media Library, Playlist Editor, integrated Video or Visualizations or the EQ, Skin Options, and Color Themes from the Main Window. Includes over 50 color themes that suit nearly every mood or occasion! Winamp carries forward the unobtrusive "Window Shade" feature.

Winamp has always prided itself on being free and it has a steady, loyal following as a result. Version 5 is sure to please its current users, and likely also to win it some converts.It looks good with a completely new interface, and comes with fairly comprehensive file support. Audio support includes CDA, MIDI, MP1/2/3/4, AAC, OGG, WAV, AIF, WMA and more.

Support for video is added in version 5, and currently this stretches to MPG, M2V, AVI and ASF formats. It packs a good deal into a fairly slim package, with the player incorporating everything you would expect and more: loop, repeat, ID3 tag support, cross-fading between tracks, 2x CD burning/ripping, internet TV and radio support etc.

It has a media manager, 10-band graphic equaliser, visualisations, and a playlist editor. Upgrade to the Pro edition to get full support for ripping/encoding audio into the MP3 format, and integrated CD burning up to 48x speed. Winamp 5.2 adds iPod support and a slightly updated interface.

I have the old one...not sure what in the hell the model number or whatever the hell u call it is but I'm trying to download the one that came out in Oct. '05...taking FOREVER! Hope it's as good as the old one and better! This shit rocks!

ivand67	Easily the best and most customizeable media player. You can configure Winamp to play just about any type of video files (Quicktime, RealPlayer media).Winamp is almost like the Firefox of media players. Foobar2000 doesn't compare.

mcovey Zeropaid Regular	It's a good player if you can spare the CPU cycles. It is a nice program, looks great, and has great radio and internet TV(!). But, on my old laptop it runs very slow (almost as slow as WMP 9). Try media player classic or @MAX Tray Player. They're both good.

ObscuredCelery File Sharing Newbie	I was a windows user all of my life until recently when i realized that i had been spending so much time trying to keep my computer adware and virus free that it was taking away from my computing experience. Linux is incredible and i can even access Kazaa on it now OpenOffice.org is better than OfficeXP enterprise and mozilla firebird burns IE to a nice clean crisp, even though XMMS is a clone and quite functional as well it will never be Winamp2. Winamp2 i think is windows killer app. the one piece of software that makes you NEED the system. I was running winamp2.91 with acidspunk and the MEXP music manager life just didn't get better. While i love winamp2 Winamp3 Blows the skins are all giant bubbly commercials it is ridiculously slow and resource hogging and it actually has less functionality than winamp2 which as they say is actually newe than 3!

skankito Da Shiznitto Bam	Best MP3 program out there. Period. Don't listen to anyone that says otherwise. Its a shame its rating is a 4 and not a 5 because it IS that good. Been using it since version 1.70 and it just keeps getting BETTER and BETTER. Winamp3 is more suited for faster computers, so if you've got an older machine, stick with winamp2. Winamp2 was just recently updated to version 2.91, and it is incredible. Why is winamp so great? What is it designed to do? Play mp3s. Thats it. It does have other capabilities, but those are features added when they don't have anything else to add! Winamp plays mp3s, plain and simple. It doesn't have some $h1tty burning software added in, and the visuals are absolutely stunning, even on this archaic 300Mhz PII (256 megs of ram, voodoo3 16meg). You run into problems when you try to make a program do TOO much. Winamp keeps it clean, winamp keeps it simple, winamp is the king of mp3 players. So. Bottom line. Winamp - The Best MP3 Player Ever.
