It’s that time of year again as the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship begins to rev up and college hoops fans across the country begin rooting for their favorite team. Held each Spring, the tourney features the “top” 65 college basketball teams from throughout the United States.

Also referred to as “March Madness,” as the tournament takes place mainly during the month of March, or the “Big Dance,” the tournament takes place over 3 weeks and culminates in a national title for the victor.

Normally fans have to seek out a variety of methods with which to which each of the 63 games that take place over the course of the tournament. This season however, college basketball fans have a nice alternative courtesy of CBS Sports TV.

By the way it’s a long shot, but nonetheless I have to give a shout out to the University of San Diego, my alma mater who’s made the tourney this year for the first time since 2003. Even though I admit I had to play the odds for my bracket picks and go with UCONN it’d still be nice to see an upset and see my Toreros come up with a first round victory even if it cost me a few points in the end.

My buddy Cowles also made me look bad by picking USD despite the projections. Oh well, we’ll just have to see how it plays out.

The beauty of these 3 sites is that not only can you watch movies at a time and place of YOUR choosing but, that you aren’t subject to the usual headaches like DRM or playback restrictions.

It’s always nice to be able to get FREE stuff, and particularly when it seems like a gamble as to whether or not a $10 dollar movie ticket to watch a movie legally will have either Vegas style or Tijuana odds on the result.

When a movie’s FREE you don’t have to worry about that feeling of getting ripped off, and all the while get to enjoy the pleasure or the pain of watching it from the comfort of your own home.

As I pointed out before, there is an abundance of video content out there to watch but, only a finite amount of time to watch it in. These 3 sites allow you to watch movies on your own terms.

Now again, just like with TV shows, there’s a whole number of ways that one can get movie content from the internet and onto their PC but, to keep it simple we’ll be limiting it to 3 of the best methods here for you in this guide.

PeekVid

Not really my first choice when it comes to watching free movies on-demand due to all the popups but, selection-wise it just can’t be beat.

It’s the selection of titles that really does make the site worth checking out, that and the fact that all the movies are of DVD quality, unlike some sites which sometimes stream CAMs that can oftentimes be quite difficult to sit through.

Movin Flicks

This one probably ranks as my favorite for the simple reasons that it has no popup ads whatsoever, and has a relatively new as well as classic selection of content to choose from that is updated regularly.

The selection of content is more limited than that of PeekVid but, the lack of ads makes it well worth it.

Also, the site has content that is far more current than that of PeekVid, though this does mean they are CAMs boys and girls (Oscar Season’s over remember?).

Junk Nova

Rounding out the list of sites is Junk Nova, a recently discussed

I’ve previously mentioned a number of sites and methods for watching movies and TV shows for free but, Video Hybrid, in my opinion, stands head and shoulders above the rest.

What makes Video Hybrid so nice is that available content is displayed in a clean and easy to use manner that makes it easy to find what you want and also to get a quick read of what a movie or TV show is all about.

MOVIES

Notice how nice the movie section is laid out. Each title has a movie poster and brief synopsis making the selection process as simple and enjoyable as a stroll through your local video store. The beauty though is that you don’t have to worry about returning it or even paying for it. Clicking the fancy PLAY button is all you need to do.

Of particular note is that it currently offers the new Spiderman 3 movie for your free movie streaming pleasure as shown below.

Selecting the PLAY button , which in this case I did for Spiderman 3, then opens up the selected movie title in your browser and thereby eliminates the need for any codecs or compatible media player concerns. Simply click and play.

TV SHOWS

The user interface of the TV section is just as clean and easy to use as that of the movie section. As you can see below, each series is laid out in alphabetical order to scroll or search query through.

As an example I select the series “24.” after clicking on the link, it takes you to a listing BY EPISODE of the series, providing helpful info and a synopsis of each.

Selecting the PLAY button for a desired episode then opens up a media player in your your browser making the viewing experience as simple as can possibly be.

Pretty nice right? TV Links is also a great site to check out if you haven’t already but, either way, it’s nice to have a few backups handy just in case one gets taken down.
