HP forced to pay cd-burning fees
A German court has ordered computer giant Hewlett-Packard Corp. to pay fees on all compact disc burners sold in the country over the last three years, upholding a new law meant to take a bite out of music piracy. As reported by AP
Napster upgrade clips some clones
News.com reports that Napster has released a new version, screwing over the Napster clone industry. Says Kelly Truelove of clip2, “Napster with its new client has not only blocked access to Napster from its cloned client, it’s also made it impossible to utilize the Napster client to connect to the clone server” Oops.
Scientist finds fungus that eats through compact discs
check it out: the uk’s telegraph is reporting: “Friends complained that in the hot and sticky Central American climate, a CD had stopped working and had developed an odd discoloration that left parts of it virtually transparent.”
Sounds like fungus to me
