As cool of an idea this is it’s a terrible one. The moment you start replacing your purchases with piracy you are validating everyone’s argument that piracy hurts. I’ve spent a lot of time defending piracy because I don’t think that everyone misbehaves when they pirate. The only reason to use this is for finding new things to download so you can buy them later if you like them.

Its fairly easy to make the bogus 1:1 argument on this one for sure.

It’s an excellent idea: it not only saves time and money but also assists the environment (as transportation is reduced/removed.) I wish they had a widget for Opera of this sort.

Of course people will say that piracy cuts into sales. Let’s hope so: it will start the slow but steady destruction of the inefficient system of business enterprise which is increasingly out of step with modern technology. A world in which creation is not driven by commercial considerations is a world that will be better.
