Good day to everyone.

All the huge efforts which will be performed by UK government and ISPs can be easily nullified using an appropriate VPN service with average encryption. I can state from my experience for example that all the newest filters against p2p widely used by most italian ISPs (level 7 deep packet inspection AND euristic traffic analysis) are easily bypassed by any VPN even with the lowest degree of encryption.

What's more good VPNs are cheap (3-12 EUR per month) fast reliable gives anonimity (no IP traceback) and some of them don't even keep logs (or keep logs for a period of time surely shorter than the period of time required by an international investigation).

If UK people are aware of this technical facility p2p in that country could continue without problems. It is especially important to continue to give access to information art and culture with privacy methods because I have strong reasons to believe that traffic monitoring on p2p will damage also the diffusion of freely distributable contents (just like it happens in Italy where ISPs filters are not able to distinguish between copyright protected files and freely distributable files).

Kind regards.

Never start exchanging any amount of currency. Once you do you give validation to the entertainment industries claim about a loss of revenue; hurting the overall cause of P2P.

Hello

I get your point but that's not the point here. :)

The point is: how can I protect my privacy with technical solutions? A VPN is not specialized in encrypting p2p traffic the purpose is to protect and encrypt ALL the traffic also (but not exclusively) in order to put on the same plan and importance any kind of traffic. On the contrary as you probably know ISPs and ohter forces would like to have "first class traffic" and "slowed and filtered down traffic" and this problem goes far beyond p2p traffic and infringing laws about the protection of the intellectual property.

What are the loss of revenue you are talking about? I want to use a VPN to bypass filters with the aim to download and share via p2p freely distributable multimedia contents and in case MY contents (without p2p I would reach a much smaller amount of persons); this Internet traffic is spuriously and perhaps illegally filtered by many italian and other countries providers. This is a filter to free access to art culture and information.

Kind regards
