It seems to be a multinational sport for big business these days. Reports are surfacing that Italian media company Mediaset has filed a lawsuit for half a billion euros against the content streaming website.
The Associated Press is reporting that multimedia giant from Italy ‘Mediaset’ is suing YouTube. Add that to a long list of international content outlets trying to find a get rich quick scheme.

Mediaset, the media empire founded by Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi, said Wednesday it was seeking at least 500 million euros ($779 million) in damages against Google Inc.’s YouTube service for allegedly misusing video produced by Mediaset.
In a lawsuit filed with Rome civil court, Mediaset said it had identified on YouTube at least 4,643 video clips of Mediaset-owned material that was available on June 10 alone after being posted “without obtaining rights.”
Those clips totaled 325 hours of broadcasts from Mediaset’s three private television stations, the Italian company said.
This obviously raises the age-old question ever since ThePirateBay started receiving lawsuits of ‘does the lawsuit have jurisdiction?’ YouTube isn’t located in Italy, should it be sued in a Roman court?
Earlier this year, French Broadcaster TF1 sued YouTube for 100 million. This latest lawsuit seems to show that YouTube is one of the broadcasters favorite scapegoat in copyright litigation. Exactly how this lawsuit can be successful is anyones guess.
Premier Silvio Berlusconi is suing You tube not beacause it has violated anything. People visit you tube and upload their videos on it because it is a free site and then sue it. The reason Berlusconi is suing You tube is because of Movie and recording industry. It just wants to harass you tube. It justr will find a way to bring the name of the movie and recording industry in the law suit and fight its cause without them suing any body themselves. Movie Industry is loosing lots of customers because of their hawkish attitude, They are making movies illegally. They make movies by abusing foreign culturesw and foreign concepts. Likke this Hollywood Company just made the movie Avata and has made $2 billion in two months and might well make a trillion dollars before the year is over. Yet Avatar is not Avatar as Hindus have used it for thousands upon thousands of the year, The hollywood company saw an oppportunity to make money by using the term Avatar that appears to be glamorous. The cgharactyer the company calls Avatar is actually what Hindus would call Bhainse (there is also a similar world Bhanse which means buffalo that people use to have milk from). But Bhainse means Disguise. Bhainse is not so glamrous and not so well known and even if it was well known it would not have made as much money as the name Avatar. The movie Industry must be stopped from suing people and companies indiscriminately. If I’d money I’d sue the movie Industry to injunct it from showing Avatar on any screen in the world. The movie industry must be sued. I hope You tube people read my comments and if the use of Avatar by the Hollywood to describe Bhainse will help them win theie case I’d help them in their suit. I want to stop Hollywood from suing people every day. They sue boig people. They sue little people and they sue big companies. They must be stopped.
