There are two major problems:

1. There is a new icon that allows the “audience” to view these privacy settings- which is really , really wrong– you can go onto a friend’s wall and see that they have specifically excluded certain people from the post (like the example you gave- but the viewers, not just the account owner, can see this info). This has also affected older posts/ photos (before the changes took place)- a nightmare!

2. It was previously possible to hide/ unhide your wall; I think there were a few methods available, but I would set the default to “customise- Me Only”- and that would (temporarily) make everything on the wall go private (completely hide it, retrospectively). I have read lots of comments saying this is no longer possible.

Facebook did not warn of or provide any information about this change. It has done nothing to respond to complaints about this (many people have complained on the bold article comments). It is a major privacy breach- NOT an “improvement.”
