How to Skin and Customize uTorrent

Change the look and feel of the popular BitTorrent client with different toolbar, status, and tab icons.

Many are unaware of the ability to customize the look and feel of uTorrent. Most are used to the default toolbars, status, and tab icons and have never though twice that there may perhaps be other options. Well, there are.

Did you know that for the toolbar alone there are 186 different skins to choose from?

So how do you skin and customize uTorrent? Here’s how.

1. TOOLBARS

First select and download the desired toolbar from uTorrent’s “Skin Browser” page.

In WindowsXP skin icons need to go into C:Documents and SettingsUsernameApplication DatauTorrent, where Username is your Windows username. To locate the correct folder in any other version of Windows, hit Start, then Run, type %AppData%uTorrent and hit “Enter.”

After you’re done saving the file simply close and restart uTorrent(if already running) for the changes to take effect.

2. STATUS ICONS

First select and download the desired status icons from uTorrent’s “Skin Browser” page.

Remember that hey need to be saved in the same place as the toolbar skin as explained above, which is C:Documents and SettingsUsernameApplication DatauTorrent for WinXP users.

After you’re done saving the file simply close and restart uTorrent(if already running) for the changes to take effect.

    It should be %AppData%\uTorrent
