You left out the biggest plus for Usenet vs. Bittorrent. The FBI can see your IP address while you tap a swarm in Bittorrent. No so with Usenet. The FBI has already brought several legal “actions” against individual BT leecherz (over 5,000). Although most of these individuals are minors (under 18) so Mommy & Daddy end up on the hook for the $20K in legal fees for something they didn’t even know was happening. The Usenet was invented prior to the real need for security on the internet (as we know it today). This means that at this point in time, it’s one of the truly last bastions of anonymity. Most commercial Usenet providers even offer SSL over some random port (not 119) so your ISP can’t log/track your downloads or rate-shape your streams. In other words, Usenet is MUCH SAFER than Bittorrent and anyone 3LIT3 already knows this….. (which probaby isn’t you)….

If anyone feels like offering corrections/updates to the guide. Feel free to post the corrections here. Also if you feel like additional screenshots are required also feel free to post links to them in the comments section. I realize that this guide isn’t fully illustrated. This is because I found out that my ISP recently discontinued UseNet on me so I couldn’t provide some of the seemingly necessary screenshots.

Yeah. I didn’t expect it and when I tried grabbing something nothing would download despite the retention. I looked it up and found out that at the most inopportune time my ISP decided to cancel it finally (as of this month ffs!
