Demonoid’s Back Online!

After a long hiatus, one of the BitTorrent community’s most beloved tracker sites rises back from the dead.

Earlier today I reported how Deimos, the Admin of the BitTorrent tracker site Demonoid.com, had stepped aside to address “real-world issues.” In a blog posting on the SubDemon forums he also cryptically mentioned that we “…all, in the near future, become aware of what the future holds.”

Well, it seams that the “near future” is in fact now for the site is back up and just as spectacular as ever. A friend of mine reports that his account intact as well, share-ratio, avatar, and all.

From the Demonoid homepage:

Welcome back!

Since a few months ago, Deimos, the site administrator, lacks the necessary time to take care of the website, because of personal matters he’s been needing to attend to. For this reason, he has decided to leave the site staff.

Before leaving, he assigned a new site administrator from among his friends to take care of the site. The old moderator team will continue helping with the site, unchanged. We will try to keep running everything just as it always has been.

The trackers and website seem to be working properly, and should any issues arise, they will be taken care of as soon as possible. The site might be going on and offline over the next days as we work out any problems.

Welcome back, and enjoy your stay!

Also, a quick “whoistrace” for the site says that’s being hosted in the Ukraine so it should be free of any legal troubles for the time being.

I can’t say that it’s too much of a surprise that it’s finally back online, but it sure has been a long enough time since it was such down last year that it really made you wonder sometimes if we’d ever see it again.

Welcome back Demonoid!

it seems like (to my eyes anyway) that the main roadblock in the site coming back was the site admin himself. if these “real world issues” were so encompassing that running a torrent website was simply out of the question then why the hell didn’t he turn over the site months ago? i have no idea what the timeline of events was but the way the message on the front page reads it seems like it was a short time ago. the few times i checked the subdemon forums i did not see any announcement of a site admin change. when you add in the reports that the pirate bay offering up server space for demonoid plus another tracker relocating to canada after demonoid went down and the turnaround time of it coming back up when it has gone down in the past i think you in the end have a story of an absent admin who was negligent in their duties. i can’t speak for anyone else but if i had a tight team of people i trusted and i had to go away for an undetermined time i would have turned things over a long time ago.

being grateful its back is one thing. having no announcements and then finding out it could have been back months ago is another.

yeah its god but then in its absence others have flourished and we have been loving them.Isohunt and Mininova still take away the charm now from everybody. They have grown and expanded and upgraded themselves.

(Screams) Shiiiiiiiiiiiit!!! its like it was never even gone i mean i still had torrnts and stuff running! and it still watched and logged my traffick!! damn… Demonoid is a great site no matter what anybody thinks and i am glad to have it back! other sites also rock more options for me…so for the rest of you that bitch try running your own site and lets see how well you do…
