Ex-Military “Good Hacker” Identifies LulzSec Leader “Sabu”

Ex-marine intelligence Th3J35t3r (The Jester) posts IRC logs allegedly tying together “Sabu” and LulzSec tweets, and other damming information; claims to be  ”hactivist for good.”

There seems to be a war brewing in the hacker world as LulzSec, a splinter offshoot from fellow hacktivist group Anonymous, comes under fire from other hackers upset by the group’s tone and tactics.

One hacker, using the alias Th3J35t3r (The Jester), is apparent waging a one man war against LulzSec. Claiming to be a “hactivist for good,” he’s purportedly an “ex-marine intelligence” officer (?) who’s turned his sights from jihadist sites to LulzSec over its recent campaign against US govt targets.

“Obstructing the lines of communication for terrorists, sympathizers, fixers, facilitators, oppressive regimes and other general bad guys,” is how he describes himself.

The Jester posted some damning IRC chat logs that gives outsiders a glimpse of what’s been going behind the scenes of a group making the daily headlines and identifies it’s leader as someone named “Sabu.”

From his pastebin post:

  • Name(s): Xavier Kaotico, Xavier de Leon
Email: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
    Age: 30 as of 2011-06-21
Location: Possibly New York City, NY (has lived there)
    Websites: sabu.net, pure-elite.org, confinement.org
    Profession: Independent IT consultant
Interests: Python programming, Linux, network security, exploit development

The Jester also managed to obtain chat logs of an odd back and forth exchange among LulzSec members that shows their infatuation with the media.

For even more of what The Jester has found, The Guardian has the full text up on its site.

Looks as though the hunter has now become the prey. It’s one thing to target the RIAA, MPAA or even other foreign govt websites, but targeting US govt sites for no good reason is a surefire way to raise the ire of folks like ex-US military hackers.

Ouch.

Stay tuned.

Nakomis is not Jester. Nakomis was a member or affiliate of lulzsec that was masquerading as Jester for social engineering purposes. If you read the Pastebin carefully you would see that. The person purported to be Nakomis (Casey Gardiner) previously resided in Carlsbad, CA and was thought to have been stationed at Camp Pendleton. As a side note, he has competed in professional tennis tournaments.

Jun 01 16:25:58 sabu hes some ex-military guy thats "anon" Jun 01 16:26:00 sabu you know Jun 01 16:26:05 ahh Jun 01 16:26:06 sabu hes marine intelligence right topiary? Jun 01 16:26:08 sabu thats what he told me Jun 01 16:26:11 sabu ex-marine Jun 01 16:26:16 Topiary not sure, seen him on TinyChat Military Counter-Intelligence - Sources say Nakomis (jester) served quite recently in the United States marines doing government intelligence. Possible network security work or programming that supported their mission. http://pastebin.com/5NJXfbVw

I wrote the pastebin, not jester. That is my work

Why do you claim this research as jester's, Jared?

Sabu and friends (Power2All mainly) just made fun of Web Ninja's (self-admitted script kiddies on their own site) that most of the info these turds are leaking is widely available via Google. So far no damning information that they haven't WILLINGLY given the Internetz has been leaked. If they (LulzSec) feels confident then I feel confident that Jester is a fool reposting Web Ninja's ub3r Googling skillz. Either which way, I'm tired of these dumb fucks. They all look, act, and sound like a bunch of kiddies whether script kiddie or not.

Lol...right? I mean why not attack real bad guys like N Korea or Myanmar. What they've gotten so far is pretty boring and lacks a coherent ideology, or at least one I can agree with.

Hey jared, why don't you post fair and unbiased coverage? You should mention about j3st3r's attempts to extort 10,000$ off his 'fanbase' http://pastebin.com/c6r2j09w He's not whitehat, he's not even a good hacker. He's using lulzsec to try to make a name for himself and failing terribly, he's not the only one though. Websites like the guardian are using sensationalistic journalism in their 'coverage' of lulzsec, going as far as to report any rumor they hear in order to drive hits to their website.

? Notice the use of quotation marks. FTA: Claiming to be a “hactivist for good,” Never said that I thought he was good, only that he describes himself as such. You decide what he is. I'm only reporting what he posted and what he claims.
