Newly introduced stable version introduces a number of new features and options sure to please regular users of the popular BitTorrent client.
BitTorent Inc. has released a new version of uTorrent that adds an impressive number of new features and options that complement the simple, low memory intensive, BitTorrent client.
“µTorrent’s popularity lies in its simplicity and power,” said Jordy Berson, µTorrent’s director of product management at BitTorrent Inc., in a press release. “As a result, we’re very selective in the features and apps we add, focusing on maintaining the lightness and speed our community expects.”
The new features include streaming, remote access, and torrent ratings and comments.
With the streaming option users can take advantage of progressive downloads and watch or listen to a file before it’s compeleted downloading.
It offers an updated remote access feature that allows users to control their downloads on the go via uTorrent’s Android app or the standard Web UI.
There’s also a new ratings and comments feature for torrents that harvests the “collective wisdom” of the BitTorrent community to ensure downloads are safe, secure, and of the quality promised.
The new drag-and-drop sending box makes it even easier to share content with friends or family.
BitTorrent Inc. also says there’s a new uChat app available in the App Studio, but it’s been “temporarily removed” for a “quick bug fix.” The uChat app allows real-time chat with other BitTorrent users from directly within in the client.
And don’t forget, uTorrent is available for Mac and Linux.
