Google’s Chromebooks Now Available at Amazon, Best Buy

Debuts at Best Buy and Amazon.com with prices ranging from $379.99 to $499.

Google’s highly anticipated Chromebooks are now on sale at Best Buy and Amazon.com with models from both Acer and Samsung.

The Chomebooks, which run on Chrome OS and are optimized for web browsing including Chrome plugins, range in price from $379.99 to $499 depending on if you want a Wi-Fi or 3G-capable device.

Acer’s Cromia Chromebook Wi-Fi model costs $379.99, and the 3G sells for $449.99.

Samsung’s Series 5 Chromebook Wi-Fi model costs $429.99, and the 3G sells for $499.99.

So why get one?

  • Chromebooks boot in 8–10 seconds and resume instantly.
  • Designed to get faster over time as updates are released.
  • Same experience everywhere – Your apps, documents, and settings are stored safely in the cloud.
  • Amazing Web apps
  • Designed from the ground up to defend against the ongoing threat of malware and viruses.
  • Easy to share with family and friends. They can log in to experience all of their own Chrome settings, apps, and extensions, or use Guest Mode to browse privately.

Though some think tablets mean a slow death for desktop PCs and laptops, Chromebooks may just change all that.

What do you think? Will or would you purchase one?

Stay tuned.

Screw the cloud! The only thing this thing might be good for is to install XBMC on.

No thanks. I want a computer I can use at will, not a single app I could get for free wrapped in overpriced plastic. :p

Lol....def depends on what u plan on doing with it. Would seem like a big hassle just to surf the web, but the boot time and ease of operation to do so sounds pretty enticing.
