Sick of Sarah BitTorrent Album Surpasses 1 Million Downloads

Takes the “all-girl punk band rocking heavy guitar” just a little over a month to surpass the milestone, and proves, as BitTorrent Inc. puts it, the “willingness of the BitTorrent community to support new artists.”

It’s been just a little over a month since Sick of Sarah crossed into uncharted territory and released their album “2205” for free in the BitTorrent App Studio, and it’s already breaking new ground once again by surpassing the 1 millionth download mark.

“Congratulations to the band!” says BitTorrent Inc.. “If you haven’t downloaded the album, go check it out in the App Studio (or download the torrent). Or hit up a concert in your neighborhood, and buy merchandise here. This is a major accomplishment and a thrilling development, as it illustrates the willingness of the BitTorrent community to support new artists.”

Ever since BitTorrent Inc. launched the App Studio it’s been looking for ways to collaborate with artists and harness its distribution power to reach the purported 100 million monthly active users.

The recently released “Project Chrysalis,” the BitTorrent Mainline version 8 that it said a few months ago would feature “major changes” to the user interface and overall experience, will help in that pursuit with the addition of a new channels feature that users can browse through to find content.

Now that Sick of Sarah has proven how successful BitTorrent distribution can be hopefully other artists will follow suit and make their albums available as well.

Stay tuned.
