If they tried doing something afoul of the contract better do it on a small artist so when they complain fewer people would really notice. Try it on a bigger artist and you can be sure that every major media outlet would be reporting on it because of the brand name thing. This is of course if they well and truly tried to screw over the artists over and beyond the crummy contract that they get.
