An Article from today’s Guardian contains some interesting statistics on the current state of file sharing:
- 3.6 billion files are downloaded each month using FastTrack and the number is growing
- Requests for DVD files have recently overtaken those for music and even pornography on Gnutella
- Linkin Park’s album, Hybrid Theory, sold 4.6 million copies in stores. The Album, currently the most popular p2p music download, was downloaded 5.6 million times last month alone.
- Over a monitored 24 hour period 83,000 people made Mission Impossible II available to download from their computer. If you preferred The Scorpion King, you could pick any of 96,000 files
- As Broadband spreads globally piracy monitoring group, NetPD, expects Film downloads will increase substantially
