TVLinks to Return 'Soon?'

Site now hints that a possible return is imminent.

It's been almost 3 months now that everybody's favorite video streaming site TVLinks was busted by UK authorities.

The raid had been announced by a spokesman for the Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT) who said that "Sites such as TV Links contribute to and profit from copyright infringement by identifying, posting, organizing, and indexing links to infringing content found on the internet that users can then view on demand by visiting these illegal sites."

But, the move was immediately criticized by myself and others who pointed out that TVLinks didn't actually host any copyrighted material and simply linked to third party sites that did.

As the TVLinks disclaimer used to point out:

TV Links is not responsible for any content linked to or referred to from these pages.

TV Links does not host any content on our Servers

All video links point to content hosted on third party websites. Users who upload to these websites agree not to upload illegal content when creating their user accounts. TV Links does not accept responsibility for content hosted on third party websites.

In any event, fans of TVLinks may have good news to look forward to as a message on the site now hints of a possible return.

It reads:

Something here Soon

Now what the"something" is as yet undetermined, but I'm sure that FACT had little success in proving a case of copyright infringement against a site comprised of nothing more than links to others.

By the way, while some of us await its possible return, don't forget to check out interim alternatives to the site if you haven't done so already.

  • #1    Wasn't that guy actually arrested? Wasn't it a criminal charge, rather than a lawsuit?

Are we sure the "something" that's coming won't be coming from someone other than the guy who originally owned the site. I'd be real careful if the site went back up, and they wanted you to download something.

  • #2    @N Fiddle

He was arrested for "copyright infringement" but he never actually possessed or hosted any content of a copyrighted nature so how he could be busted is yet to be soon....

...also why would they ask you to "download something?" It was a video STREAMING site if u recall so of course you should be skeptical if they ask u to DL anything.
