Music Magnet: Yet Another Gnucleus Ripoff?

As I was reading this week’s Cnet download.com newsletter, I noticed that a file-sharing program called Music Magnet was listed as one of the top movers in its rankings, enjoying 50,000 downloads since April 4th. When I went to the developer’s website, I found nothing more than another Gnucleus ripoff. The software credits Gnucleus in its “about” page and includes the GPL, but the required source code is nowhere to be found on the website. The program contains no real innovations and isn’t even based on the newest Gnucleus release. To its credit, it contains no adware or spyware, but then again, neither does the real Gnucleus. My personal opinion is that programs like this take advantage of the hard work put in by people like John Marshall. What do you think?
