ISOHunt: ‘We Only Block US Visitors from Using OUR Trackers’

Clarifies its policy regarding the recent decision to keep out US visitors.

We BitTorrent users here in the US have been increasingly pressed into an odd MPAA-approved sandbox of sorts where one by one our favorite BitTorrent tracker sites are taken away from us.

First we watched as TorrentSpy closed its doors to us, which was then soon followed by ISOHunt. Though the problem is a sadly easy one to overcome it’s nonetheless troubling that an increasing number of web sites are choosing to cut us off rather than deal with the overzealous legal wrangling’s of US-based business concerns.

Having said this, it seems as though ISOHunt would like to clarify the method by which it blocks US visitors. Instead of a blanket ban, as is the case with TorrentSpy, which block users from using its search engine period, ISOHunt, on the other hand, only block US-based visitors from connecting to trackers which it operates. Thus, BitTorrent trackers that it indexes from other tracker sites are still connectable for US visitors.

A message on the site reads:

Apparently some P2P news sites are falsely reporting that we are blocking US visitors from using the isoHunt website itself. Let me say this is NOT the case. As reported above we are blocking US visitors ONLY to the BitTorrent TRACKERS we run. This will NOT affect torrents obtained from isoHunt unless these torrents only use said trackers that are isoHunt operated.

So if you haven’t yet managed to figure out how to bypass the site’s censors keeping an eye out for US IP addresses, you can still use it to some degree.

If you’d like to learn how to bypass the IP blocking there’s a great guide you can find here called "Guide for Canadians Wanting to Access Demonoid" that will work just as well for us "yankees." Check it out.
