I give the ambiguous Deimos major props. His silence is only stirring up speculation and attention to Demonoid although in some cases that might not be such a great thing either. In addition it all seems to stem from the fact he's merely up to his arms in hardware bullocks and not legal. Sometimes one persons silence and a mass collective imagination can brew up a helluva storm as the past few days have proved.

But I digress before I put everyone to sleep; can't WAIT for Demonoid to return in full!

"Sometimes one persons silence and a mass collective imagination can brew up a helluva storm as the past few days have proved."

Well if he COULD have just said something before now WHY didn't he say something? You have all these apparently false reports of them being shut down by the CRIA and he might have stopped all that nonsense! That was stupid in itself....letting people go on and on and not say anything.

I don't think you can blame a "collective" imagination when reports of the sites demise by the CRIA are being spread across the net.

What really gets me is it all could have been PREVENTED....so it begs the question...WHY WASN'T IT?

slyck users to Deimos suggestion:may be good idea to install redundant backup and stagger the installing of the backups do as to reduce the chance of all servers going down at once to normal use then install a failure alarm so when 1 goes down you know it and can replace it before the other dies.

lets say a server life is 3 years the first year you install the main server then on year 2 you install level 1 redundancy by year 2.9 you install level 3 redundancy so by the time year 3 comes around server 1 fails but backup 2 has 2 years left and server 3 has 3 years left.

also if the servers are in an earthquake region you may want to have them mounted on springs or something to prevent damage to minor earthquakes.

get hard drives that can shut down if they detect movement like some laptops and ipods do

This is what I get from Demonoid today. (From within Canada)

We received a letter from a lawyer represeting the CRIA they were threatening with legal action and We need to start blocking Canadian traffic because of this. If you reside in Canada that is the reason you are being redirected to this message. Thanks for your understanding and sorry for any inconvenience.

Well isn't that interesting.....then WHY does the cover story seem to disagree that they have been shut down by the CRIA? Only one story is the correct one.
