Pirate Bay Goes After Music and Film Industry

posted by soulxtc in bittorrent // 433 days 17 hours 18 minutes ago

Now that they have proof of the music and film industry's use of hackers, saboteurs, and DDOSers, the world's largest BitTorrent tracker site decides to take them to court.

It's not often that we get to a chance to hear about music and movie industry corporations getting taken to court over the tactics they employ to get their way in the world. So to hear that The Pirate Bay has decided to do just that is welcome news to say the least.

The recent leak of internal Media Defender e-mails has made it possible to confirm what they and many have known all along, but couldn't prove - that record labels and movie studios have been do everything they can to sabotage and disrupt their LEGAL operations.

The fact that The Pirate Bay operates LEGALLY under Swedish law is apparently lost on the execs of media companies trying everything they can to protect outdated business models.

Their frustration with being unable to have the world bend to its own copyright laws and regulations have resulted in their dubious use of hackers, saboteurs and DDOSers to destroy The Pirate Bay's legal BitTorrent trackers.

From The Pirate Bay blog:

TPB files charges against media companies

Thanks to the email-leakage from MediaDefender-Defenders we now have proof of the things we've been suspecting for a long time; the big record and movie labels are paying professional hackers, saboteurs and ddosers to destroy our trackers.

While browsing through the email we identified the companies that are also active in Sweden and we have tonight reported these incidents to the police. The charges are infrastructural sabotage, denial of service attacks, hacking and spamming, all of these on a commercial level.

The companies that are being reported are the following:

  • Twentieth Century Fox, Sweden AB

  • Emi Music Sweden AB

  • Universal Music Group Sweden AB

  • Universal Pictures Nordic AB

  • Paramount Home Entertainment (Sweden) AB

  • Atari Nordic AB

  • Activision Nordic Filial Till Activision (Uk) Ltd

  • Ubisoft Sweden AB

  • Sony Bmg Music Entertainment (Sweden) AB

  • Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Nordic AB

Legal proceedings are already in motion, and it looks as if The Pirate Bay could have a legitimate case. If it's operating legally under Swedish law then it's afforded each and every right granted thereof.

If they win, and I honestly think they will, there would be no better picture for their homepage then a shot of Brokep and the rest of the admins holding up cashier's checks with the logos of the various media cartel members.

And in commemoration of the affair they have even decided to sport a new logo on the site as shown below.

God I love The Pirate Bay.

  • #2    How exactly is this "100% win"? They have not won anything in court yet...though I really hope they DO and set a legal precedant for everyone else.

  • #3    YEAH! Pirate Bay might be able to do what Congress can't! (Do you think Russia will be taking notes?)

Have they set up a legal OFFENSE fund?

  • #8    If you'd like to tweak your azureus/utorrent for the maximum download speed, visit this site: http://extremebittorrent.com

I was hit by my ISP's throttling and could not download movies and tv episodes via azureus. after tweaking my system according to the "extreme bittorrent" guide and using their recommended softwares, my speed suddenly jumped from 60-70k to 3mbps! now i can watch movies online and also download via utorrent. in fact, now-a-days i prefer downloading from torrents because the speed is simply great and i don't have to wait for more than 15-25 minutes for a 700 mb movie. trust me, once you read this quick guide, nothing will be the same again.

just download that guide from http://extremebittorrent.com make changes to the system and watch your movies and music albums come rushing to you!
