Thanks to the Pirate Bay, the legendary BitTorrent tracker site has returned after an almost 3 years-long absence, and even incorporates BitTorrent client-free downloads!
As I mentioned before for those of you who don’t remember, SuprNova was a Slovenia-based BitTorrent tracker site that was started in late 2002 by Slovenian teen Andrej Preston, aka Sloncek, and in its prime was widely considered to be the best one around, if not in fact the very heart and soul of the BitTorrent community itself.
Suprnova.org was eventually shut down on December 19th, 2004 after its ISP was raided and servers seized by Slovenian police. The resulting publicity in the press. mounting legal threats, and hassling by police, all convinced Sloncek that it was time to throw in the towel and go back to being “normal.”
He has since decided to donate the domain to the Pirate Bay on the condition that they don’t change its appearance completely, and that it would continue to be a public tracker site, demands which the Pirate Bay has apparently assured him they will adhere to.
“SuprNova has been down for some years due to some heavy pressure from the copyright lobby, ” it reads in a message on SuprNova. “The former owner sloncek donated SuprNova to The Pirate Bay – and as you know, we like to kick ass and bow for no one!”
According to Brokep over at the Pirate Bay, the main point of relaunching the site is to “retake” the RIAA and MPAA’s biggest file-sharing victory ever” and prove to them once and for all that they’re fighting a losing battle against illegal file-sharing.
The site reads:
Please consider these first weeks/months as a beta test. Since we love all you guys and gals so much we decided to keep it an open beta test. That means, please behave, don’t complaint to much and if you discover any weird bugs or problems, let us know.
Some of you have also already discovered our new forum, Suprbay! Which is a joint forum for both SuprNova and The Pirate Bay. Discuss movies, music, love and whatever with your fellow pirates.
Finally, some words for non-internet loving companies: This is how it works. Whatever you sink, we build back up. Whomever you sue, ten new pirates are recruited. Wherever you go, we are already ahead of you. You are the past and the forgotten, we are the internet and the future.

As usual, the Pirate Bay never fails to figure out a new way to “stick it to the man,” and show the MPAA, RIAA, and other copyright lobbying organizations that the internet is beyond its control.
Plus it would seem that SuprNova is a dramatic improvement from even the Pirate Bay itself, with users being able to download files even WITHOUT USING A BitTORRENT CLIENT! Every download incorporates BitLet, the web-based Java applet, meaning that not only will it be even easier for BitTorrent novices to download movie and music files, but that also people will be able to download content from work, school, and anywhere else that one may be prevented from installing and configuring a BitTorrent client.
SuprNova has returned with a vengeance today, and the BitTorrent community couldn’t be happier.

Never thought I would see THAT site again….mabye they have a chance now that they are in the hands of someone who the industry has already tried to go after and FAILED!
Like I have said before…I just HOPE they keep the site as it generally was before….great files and speeds and little ads.

After visiting the site I must say…. it looks great! I have not downloaded anything so I don’t know about the speeds but if it performs adequately this could be one of the “greats” comming back from the grave!
I do remember they had TONS of stuff and with the people of TPB helping it out…..I don’t think it can lose.

Why they bring a old site to life again instead of pooling their power to make TPB better?
Because that “old site” as you put it is WORTH bringing back!
It was on the top for a long time and when it went down a lot in the BT community felt a loss.
Frankly I am glad they are bringing this site back. What is wrong with having it AND TPB to choose from? The more the merrier I say.
Haha the MPAA and RIAA FAIL everytime they need to just face the facts that piracy will continue no matter what you do to stop it. Just for that Im going to go download a simpons movie. Another $20 down the drain from our oh so rich producers. Upload and download dont quit! =^^=

To tell you how great a site it is.. It has a fake dvdscreener up.. This is just a lighted copy of the TS floating around with bad audio. Its not back its just piratebay mirror. Its to get people who use to use suprnova to try their site. Same tracker same bs files. If you cant install a bt app and use the basic functions of setting it up then stay clear of bt. Bitlet is not informing you off all your connections and how well your getting screwed with speed mpaa bots and you have no way to use ip filter or peerguardian which you would clearly need on this site.

I was hit by my ISP’s throttling and could not download movies and tv episodes via azureus. after tweaking my system according to the “extreme bittorrent” guide and using their recommended softwares my speed suddenly jumped from 60-70k to 3mbps! now i can watch movies online and also download via utorrent. in fact now-a-days i prefer downloading from torrents because the speed is simply great and i don’t have to wait for more than 15-25 minutes for a 700 mb movie. trust me once you read this quick guide nothing will be the same again.
