BPI: Tighter Control on who gets Promo Releases Needed

It is more than 3 months before the new Oasis album reaches
stores but that has not stopped the entire album going on most p2p
networks. This has angered the BPI (British Phonographic Industry)
who have launched an investigation as to who was behind the leak.
They believe that the leak was caused by someone further up the chain
.

The BPI have used this leak to highlight the need for artists to
keep closer control of who gets promotional releases. They believe that to
avoid an album being made available online early, the industry needs to keep tabs on who is given access to the songs, even at the highest levels .
This follows on from BMG who said they are going to copy-protect all promotional releases. Can The Industry stop albums getting
to p2p networks before store release? Read the full story here.
