Swedish “culture crew”set up a BitTorrent tracker site dedicated to helping users download movies by the recently deceased, and last great film director of our time.
BergmanBits is a newly launched BitTorrent tracker site dedicated to help bring the cinematic works of the late Ingmar Bergman to the masses for all to enjoy. With a little help from the Pirate Bay, the site links to each of the movies he has ever made, with a few exceptions of course.
Ingmar Bergman is often noted for having found “…bleakness and despair as well as comedy and hope in his indelible explorations of the human condition,” and “…is regarded as one of the great masters of modern cinema.”
Many filmmakers worldwide, including Americans Woody Allen, Stanley Kubrick, and Robert Altman, the Danish director Lars Von Trier, the Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski, the Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky and the Japanese director Akira Kurosawa, have cited the work of Bergman as a major influence on their work

With the death of Ingmar Bergman, one of the last great film creators, an era has passed away. An era where cinema was the supreme medium, dominating the cultural landscape and powerful men could direct and dictate our inner most feelings and desires with mass media.
For good or worse, we now live in the time of the great distributed networks where all of us have the powers of communication and creation at our hands. Despite Bergman, lets not wish the time of mass media back, but let it silently pass away with a final gasp.
As big fans of Bergmans work, we decided to make a tribute site to the films he created and we all love. We want to help people share these works and hope that even though Ingmar is no longer with us more people will experience the films and enjoy them as much as we have.
The Pirate Bay and some "other Bergman fans" are the brains behind the site, with BergmanBits serving as a tribute to the late famed Swedish film director.

In respect of the great Swedish film creator Ingmar Bergman we teamed up with some of the other Bergman fans and made a tribute site to him and his films.
The site BergmanBits.com is still collecting torrents for some of the movies, but most are available. If you have any of the missing ones please email the crew at the site.
Tomorrow between 15.00-15.01 GMT+1 we will shut down The Pirate Bay to show our respect for Mr. Bergman.
Now I don’t pretend to be an Ingmar Bergman fan and, I’m admittedly not even remotely familiar with his work but, the fact that directors I do respect and admire like Allen, Kubrick, and Altman call him a “major influence on their work,” is enough for me to want to take a look at some of his films.

bittorrent is the way for old works like these. I don’t know the director either but I think I might have to check out some of his work since he appears to get so much praise. The movies are readily available too.
