Server couldn't handle the demand for a free music sampler so turned to to the world's largest BitTorrent tracker site and the magic of P2P for help.Labrador Records is an Swedish independent record label that has been allowing visitors to download a free 68 track MP3 sampler to promote their summer material. However, their servers apparently couldn't cope with the demand and they turned to the power of BitTorrent for help. They actually asked users to share the music sampler on the Pirate Bay to ease the load on their servers and provide a smooth download experience for all. From their site: Well, putting the massive 68-track Labrador Summer Sampler 2007 on our server didn't work quite as smoothly as we'd hoped. I don't know if we overestimated our server or underestimated the need of good music this summer. Either way, our server has been pretty dysfunctional ever since but it's all been taken care of now. Very sorry about this!I know it's an independent artist and so can't do too much RIAA bashing, but considering that half of a record labels job is distribution, the other half production, I think more of them ought to to wake up and realize the distribution potential that BitTorrent and other P2P and programs are capable of. Whether it be simply free samplers such as this to turn people on to new music, or to create some sort of ad-supported music model, record labels could certainly monetize P2P or at least collaborate with it, if it weren't still daydreaming of the 1990s when there was a record store on every corner. At least Labrador records knows a good thing when it sees it. ALSO READ > Limewire: 'Congress Should Make ISPs Filter Copyrighted Content'Looking for more stuff to watch or download?

THEY HATE RIAA as it tries to force them to use conventional means and they just don't have the $$$ to do things the old way.
