SeeqPod, a FREE Music and Video Streaming Site that’s Even iPhone Friendly

Lets you watch and listen to music on the go, create playlists to embed on blogs and MySpace pages, and even works great on desktop PCs for those who have yet to get an iPhone for themselves.

With the iPhone era now upon us, it was only a matter of time before a streaming music and video site appeared which catered to users of this new piece of Apple “iCandy.”

SeeqPod is a new iPhone-friendly streaming music site that allows you to search for and play music, music videos, and podcasts artists you like, as well as discover other artists and songs you may not be familiar with.

You can even “…generate countless playlists of songs and videos, save them for future enjoyment and share them with friends by e-mailing or embedding a player and playlist in a web page.”

SeeqPod’s vertically targeted crawlers crawl the deepest parts of the web to enable internet-wide search & discovery of anything that can be played or shared with friends.

As the site reads:

Where does the music come from?

The amount of music on the Internet is much larger than music found in catalogs or physical inventories. It’s also a well known fact now that the Internet has a growing inventory filled with mashups, mixes and music of all kinds. At SeeqPod we crawl the entire multilingual deep web in the vertical space of music for the purpose of new kinds of playable search, discovery, recommendation and social experiences. In addition, as people make music and video they submit it to SeeqPod Music. This is done using the “Submit Music” link. You can even submit a location of songs we have not yet found and they will soon show up in the PodCrawler and search results.

What is the “PodCrawler”?

The PodCrawler is a direct window into the activities of the SeeqPod media crawling architecture. As new media pointers are located, they are validated and added to the searchable index, making them available as search results and playlist generation. The PodCrawler scrolling display presents randomly selected media from the most recently located content.

What can I search for at SeeqPod Music?

You can search for music and video. You can search for anything associated with a song. If the song cannot be played, you can search for things like lyrics, album art and many other things using the options button.

SeeqPod is easy to use and provides a number of different methods for streaming your favorite music tracks and videos, and also discovering new and interesting ones.

The site is of course tailored for us on Apple’s iPhone but, just as easily reads and functions on your ordinary windows-based desktop.

1. Playing Music, Creating Playlists

To play a desired music track, simply fill out the search query and then select the “green arrow” icon to the right of the TV icon adjacent to each song.

In order to create a playlist simply continue selecting these green arrow icons and they will appear to right in the form of a playlist beneath the music player.

To save and store playlists you must create a user account.

2. Watching Music Videos

Some songs may not be associated with a music video but, by clicking the TV icon adjacent to each music track it will query to see if there is a music video available.

If one is available, it will appear on the right-hand side in the “video player” tab and will always be in the form of an iPhone-supported YouTube video.

3. Discovering New Music

By selecting the “PodCrawler” tab, as shown below, you can watch as the site finds new content for indexing and select a desired track as it scrolls down the page to watch or listen to.

4. Embed a Playlist on Blogs, MySpace Pages

Another cool feature is the ability to embed a music player filled with a playlist you have created on your blog or MySpace page.

First, simply create a playlist as explained above, and then select the “Embed” tab as pictured below.

Then choose what size music player you want to embed and then select the corresponding “Copy to Clipboard” button.

All you have to do now is embed the code on the blog or MySpace page you where you wish to display it.

It’s that easy.

So even if your like me and have yet to acquire Apple’s latest and greatest “iCandy,” SeeqPod is still a cool way to listen to and discover great, new, and FREE music.
