‘Glimpse of the Future’ – The Internet Circa 1994

You have to love this video from YouTube that shows just how far the Internet has come in a seemingly short period of time.

Aw the early days of the internet, when dial-up was the norm and AOL was king. When they actually had a book that was updated monthly listing all the known websites on the internet (It was only like 2 inches thick!).

Well, much has changed since those early wild west days, and thank goodness I might add. If I ever have to visit a lame AOL chatroom or listen to that infernal modem squawking ever again it’ll be too soon.

Wow clean pages clear underlined blue links no frames no pages that are too wide or narrow for the browser minimum graphics and no ads up and down and all around what you actually want to read! It’s like the cleanliness that Wikipedia has right now and that’s smooth and different.

I guess they didn’t call it the web then it was just the internet. I thought that the real internet goes back to the 1960s so I guess what they mean is that was the time when the modern browser was starting to get big. I wonder what browser that is actually Netscape or Mosaic or something?

Boomer that was Mosaic I recognized the icon in the upper right hand side

hahaha i loved how that ended “if you are on the internet now…”

if they only knew back then that it would take the shape it has.
