BT Etree is a BitTorrent tracker site that offers free, and apparently legal, live concert recording downloads from “trade friendly artists.”
In the vein of other BitTorrent tracker sites like Ants Marching which offers live recordings of the Dave Matthews Band, bt.etree.org offers live concert recordings of similarly “altruistic” artists.
As the site notes, “We only deal with live recordings by artists that allow taping and/or free trading of their performances.”
Their 3 founding principles for the site are large scale electronic distribution, high quality music, and trade friendly material (legal).
Some of the artists include The Roots, Ween, The Black Keys, Black Crowes, Grateful Dead, Widespread Panic, Greyboy Allstars, Blues Traveler, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Pearl Jam, Spoon, and many, many more.
The Roots are a particular favorite of mine, have been for some time, and I was happy to see a number of cool live recordings that were available.
Also to note, being that the Grateful Dead and Phish have such a wide collection of live recordings circulating out there, the site is kind enough to provide a handy “Hide Grateful Dead and Phish” button that makes finding cool downloads all the more easier.
So check out the site when you get a chance and post here if you find some cool content that you think others would like to grab.
