Right? In fact, if I recall correctly, they mods would ban people who paid for invites on sites like eBay.

Yep, here we go > you should be careful who you give invites to. there is a huge thread going on in the oink forums right now about a kid who was selling invites on ebay. they posted everything they know about him. pics, multiple email addresses, multiple screennames and his myspace page. also his dads pic, his dads cell, home, and fax phone number. plus his dads work website. the owner of the site started it all and hes updating it. the site is ruthless. he even said sometimes when they catch sellers they ban everyone in their invite tree…that would mean you.

I was a longtime member of OiNK and I never heard of paying for invites either.. I’d given out many invites over the years and never had to pay to receive them.

Probably don’t. Prosecutors against TPB never really understood what BitTorrent was.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this would wind up being similar to the TPB trial where prosecutors have nothing, forge documents to fake evidence and get a biased judge to rule in their favor, capping off the farce of a trial to the absolute bewilderment of the defense lawyer.

Maybe they confused sites selling invites as associated to Oink. Since you know, they never actually do their homework on the background of the site, they just file an application for a lawsuit and punch in the name in google.

But most didnt pay a dime…I know I never did. Thats why its hard to understand why the prosecutor thinks users were getting ripped off. If people did send money it was to pay for the obvious costs necessary to maintain the site.

The guy still maintained his day job in fact so it wasnt as though he was getting rich off the site.

If he did get $300,000 and the site had 200,000 members, that’s $1.50 a member, which doesn’t sound like a whole lot.

I think these sites are great for getting music heard and improving your musical education.
