Screener debuts on BitTorrent tracker sites everywhere well ahead of its January 15th national release date.
Oscar screener leak season has been upon us for a while now, but that doesn’t mean a surprise isn’t in store every now and then. Such as is the case today with news that a screener copy of director Peter Jackson’s (Lord of the Rings) chilling drama “The Lovely Bones” has leaked to BitTorrent tracker sites everywhere well ahead of its January 15th national release date.
The movie debuted in 3 theaters in Los Angeles and New York City back on December 11th, but weak ticket sales thus far convinced Paramount Pictures to hold off on a national release until January 15th as scheduled.
I have yet to see the movie myself and early reviews suggest the movie isn’t that great
Perhaps a telling reason why is that, as Jackson readily admits, the movie is intended to cater to the tastes of young, female tweens.
“Fran and I agreed at the very beginning that we wanted to make a film our daughter, who is 13, could watch,” Jackson told The Age, “because it has a lot of positive things to say. The second you have a 14-year-old girl being murdered, forget about it, it’s going to be an R-rated film and we didn’t want that. There are all sorts of reasons why. For example, there are elements of the audience, a minority of people who would enjoy seeing a 14-year-old girl being killed on screen and we didn’t want those people coming to our film.”
Paramount Pictures, surely worried that its $70 million dollar flic could flop, has already decided to change its marketing strategy and tap into the same “Twilight” audience that had that demographic purchasing tickets in droves.
I highly doubt any of you are young, female tweens, but “The Lovely Bones” may still be worth a peek.

aimed at tweens. Just tell Justin Bieber about it and he should get box office sales up. He has lots of tweens that like him
i think the ones who read the book are more than likly the ones looking forward to it it is a sad book cryed on every page! but i thought it was good i think that other people that read the book would think it was good too!
