Demonoid Not Dead, “Will Return as Soon as Possible”

Demonoid Not Dead, “Will Return as Soon as Possible”

Stifles rumors that it plans to shut down the site or create a new one as it works to rewrite code for those parts of the site that were deleted during recent hardware “problem.”

It’s been a little over two months now that BitTorrent tracker site Demonoid went offline after suffering from hardware issues that resulted in some unspecified data loss.

It followed the site’s closure from November of last year to April of this year thanks to pressure from the Canadian Recording Industry Association(CRIA).

Now the site’s HP has been updated with a message seeking to calm visitors worried the site may be gone for good this time.

“There are some rumors about the site shutting down for good and we starting a new tracker next year,” it reads. “The rumors are of course, lies. There are no plans of shutting down or creating another site.”

It says the reason for the closure is a “problem that caused data loss” and that people are currently rewriting the code for those parts of the site that suffered.

“We are also working to try and minimize the data loss as much as possible,” it adds.

Hopefully we’ll see it up and running again soon enough. The tracker site is sorely missed by the BitTorrent community.

Stay tuned.

Demonoid. I live there. I love it for the amount of rarer media in such an open format, and sense of community, more like buddies, open and informal. Their torrents have real descriptions, and no files you can’t get to because you’re not a member of a hundred other private sites. Their interface is a good deal better than Piratebay’s.

It’s more like folks there do torrents with TLC, with VHS rips to get out videos that were not released to disk, and there are fewer rar files like they are just dumped on the site. Their personal messenger system is simple and it works, woof.

I’ve been missing the site and have been thinking about how special they are, and at times I wish that I could help them out.

One minus is that they use the ‘Intellitxt’ Spamming System that highlights links and pops up messages at you when you run the pointer over them, but you can put that address and kontera in your page blocker or firewall if it’s annoying.

      No, you do.

Demonoid's been dead for years now. They're just too stupid to realise it.

Charlie, which competitor torrent site are you a fan of exactly? Or is it a copyright enforcement agency? And if they’ve won this competition with Demonoid “years” ago, to the point the tracker is long-dead, why are you still checking the news about its status? Just curious, although chances are I won’t be coming back to zeropaid until a new update gets posted. Feel free to answer for everyone else’s benefit though, if you return to this article.

I dont know, jiji. I’m just a huge dumb ass. I’m sorry for being such a homosexual.
