Well removing DRM would be ONE hurdle they might get over....now if they could find a way to have it as cheap as allofmp3.com or even free with some kind of advertisment scheme it may work.

It all depends on the pricing though....and if the majors come onboard with this...still it is the best offering so far.

But I still think in the future that legal downloads will HAVE to be paid for with advertising and free to the consumer. Any other model will NOT compete with free p2p effectively! The only way you can "compete" with free....is to give stuff away pay for it with ads and have the stuff at decent or high quality. And reasonable download speeds.

To me any other model forcing the consumer to pay will never do as good as free p2p. People have been getting their music for free for years....suddenly expecting them to start paying for it unless it is something REALLY worth paying for is a pipe dream in my opinion.

But what happens if the file is corrupt when you download it? Are you still chanrged for a useless file that someone else shared? What if the databa<x>se can't find the artists that you are sharing to compensate them? Ask questions people. I like the forward-thinking approach of this application but nothing beats a good old eDonkey or Bittorrent download.

@Zoness....No one said it was perfect! Only that it was a start. Hey they have to start SOMEPLACE! I am sure there are going to get a whole lot of other questions before it is all said and done.
