Action-drama flic starring Val Kilmer, 50 Cent, Michael Biehn, and Sharon Stone appears on BitTorrent tracker sites well before its scheduled July 13th release date.
Last Tuesday a DVDRip of action-drama “Streets of Blood” starring Val Kilmer, 50 Cent, and Sharon Stone made its way to BitTorrent tracker sites everywhere and studio execs are surely none too pleased.
It’s not the first leak ever to occur, just ask George Lucas about Star Wars III, and certainly not the last, but according to wikipedia there is some speculation that the leak may mean the movie will be released direct to DVD and bypass theaters altogether.
It’s a bogus argument to be sure, for just look at the action blockbuster “Taken” starring Liam Neeson. It debuted in France in February 27, 2008, with releases in the UK and US following on September 26, 2008 and January 30, 2009, respectively. DVD copies of the movie were available on BitTorrent long before it debuted in the US, and it didn’t stop the movie from raking in more than $144 in domestic sales to date.
To boot, the MPAA is enjoying another year of record profits.
What it all really comes down to is the quality of the movie. If its good people will see it. If it’s bad people won’t. It’s as simple as that, though every once and a while we get tricked into seeing stinkers like T4 out of some odd sense of franchise loyalty.
So what’s the movie about?
Here’s a brief synopsis from IMDB:
A police officer’s partner has died during Hurricane Katrina, but he later discovers that his partner may have been murdered. An investigation follows, taking the officer and his new partner into the depths of the criminal underworld.
The trailer looks pretty decent so let’s just hope ol’ Val doesn’t let us down.
Stay tuned.

Yeah. I’m pretty sure i’d let this one slide by. Never even heard of it!
Cool!
according to netflix, it releases 7.28.2009, so they are skipping theatre
Actually, you’ll find some movies like these playing in theaters and Pay Per View at the same time. I do believe that they started it off with Flawless (with Michael Caine/Demi Moore) in 2007.
This movie is ABSOLUTELY brutal! You almost have to see it to believe it.
