This is nothing but obstructionism on the part of corporations. They want the state of NC to protect their current business model and revenue. This is not the state's job. I wrote both my local state representative in the house and local state senator about this bill yesterday. I told them to please vote against HB1252 and I hope they do it. Mr. Tarleton and Mr. Goss I hope will have some sense on this issue. I don't live near either Wilson or Salisbury. However, I do not see why these municipalities should be prevented from building their own networks if they want to or need to. The incumbent providers have a lot of infrastructure in place. However, I believe that Greenlight is intended to be paid for primarily from customer subscription revenue. Given that is the case I believe this is a good move on the part of the city of Wilson.
