I understand the idea of ratios is to improve the qty of seeds and a fair giveback for what is recd. What isn’t mentioned when it comes to fairness is that most peoples connections are not symetrical which is the fault of the isp. Corporate connections are more likely symetrical and have a much greater ability to give back. I doubt the trackers look at the addresses of the DLs/ULs and scale the ratios by the DL/UL speed rates allowed by the isp’s. Next time you want to complain about leechers why not do somthing about the biggest leechers of them all the ones who hit us in the wallet every month. Oh yeah….you can’t bully them !

Thought it’s a bit dated, might as well give my two cents.

I understand if people have to resort to these types of programs to stay in private trackers. When I used to use private trackers, I would get banned after only downloading 2 files because I would be in constant competition with seedboxes. Even when I didn’t download for 2 weeks, my ratio would only be at around 0.4. Programs like greedy-torrent would give users with crappy upload speeds a chance to share with the community. Whether or not this program will cripple the BT system is up to the user.

Nowadays I don’t consider private trackers very much. Public trackers have comparable speeds if seeded properly (downloaded a DVDrip at 600KBs which was the max speed on my connection) and much more variety, plus they allow me proper time to seed.

i agree too the ratios are like points and can be used to earn respect and downloads (if the site enforces the ratios).

this is something that will get you banned on private trackers
