BMG: All Promo Releases to be Copy Protected

BMG Entertainment said it will begin this month to protect promotional releases of its CDs against copying. These are Cd’s that are issued to Radio stations, critics and industry insiders. This is an effort to try and prevent music reaching file sharing networks before it has been officially released. BMG have decided to use a variety of copy protection technologies. Pre-released versions of Michael Jackson’s single were copy protected but that did not stop the song reaching file sharing networks.
