I suspected it was just a bunch of drunkards having a 'dream' about a place they could call their own and be able to upload copyrighted works too. No country in their right mind would sell them an island for the sole purpose of copyright infringement.

I wonder how foolish the people who actually gave to this project now feel....since it turns out they are not going through with it??

And I seriously doubt there will be refunds....kiss that money goodbye. Hopefully it can be spent on upgrading their servers or something useful to the whole pirate bay community.....

Does anyone see the irony in freely giving money in good will to an organization who calls themselves the "Pirate Bay"
Everyone should have known better. They scammed 20 grand and now I am sure most people feel they can just rot.

I think the irony of it all was lost on me until you just mentioned it. Let's see freely give up a 1000 bucks of hard-earned cash on a group of twenty-somethings called The Pirate Bay who freely trade in technically stolen works of others...... yeah pretty stupid.

I guess itd be like going up to the bootleg CD stand at the local flea-market and giving him 20 bucks to buy a new table to sling albums on.

At least with the bootleg stand you would only be losing 20 bucks as opposed to some people who stupidly gave $1000.00 to TPB for this venture.

I suppose we will need at least two parts of cyberspace

Part 1 - anything goes all religionsall political viewsall philosophys etc can be expressed all files allowed (under non desc<x>riptive ti<x>tles) There would some censorship on extreme and universally condemned ideals ie kidi porn how to kill etc - this seems to be the way it is now(sort of)

Part 2- age related censorship and depending apon the local goverment certain ideas and philosophy not allowed Ie China and other places that dont want to "pollute their own population with such ideas" or just limit information for some other political ideal .

We Do need a part 2 for the age related stuff because no matter how well somebody designs filters for porn spam etc someone else can design a work around.

The idea of "A Pirate Ship" nation for part 1(international waters) doesn't work look at the "Rainbow warrier " the French got to that In NZ so nothing is really safe from a Govt wanting to enforce there ideals apon someone else (usually the end result is destruction or death)

anyway which ever way it will go it will be a interesting fight between the two extremes of 'Total Freedom and Total Control"
 Bye for now WARREN

As for your part 2...they cannot even stop kids from hacking and you think you will be able to stop kids from seeing porn? Well good luck! I don't think it is gonna happen.

@Warrenjg1

That is a really out there idea China cannot even censor it's own people (they catch some of them) but they in no way stop the free flow of information as teratogenic as it is to regime governments it cannot be stopped. Mans growth is empirical and information plays the most important role in this genetic desire to learn.
