It’s 3 GB of 739 MP3 track listening pleasure, and well worth grabbing.
I come across a lot of cool FREE and LEGAL BitTorrent downloads each day, and so I figured that I’d start sharing some of the cooler stuff that I find with you so that you may download it as well.
Sure everybody loves downloading stuff using BitTorrent, and sure it’s easy to find what you want but, it’s always a treat to find a place with content that’s not only FREE but, that is also actually worth watching or listening to.
Today’s “treat” is brought to you courtesy of South by Southwest (SXSW). It’s site describes it as follows:
SXSW Inc. is a private company based in Austin, Texas, with a year-round staff of professionals dedicated to building and delivering conference and festival events for entertainment and related media industry professionals. Since 1987, SXSW has produced the internationally recognized Music and Media Conference & Festival.
The first South by Southwest Music Conference and Festival (SXSW) was held in 1987 in Austin, Texas. Despite the fact that Austin was not a Top 20 major market at the time, the background and character of the city made it a perfect location for the conference.
The classic problem facing Austin musicians was being isolated from the rest of the world here in the middle of Texas. SXSW was a way to reach out to the rest of the world, and bring them here to do business. To do that successfully, SXSW needed to appeal to people other than local artists whether they were from Austin, Ft. Worth, Chicago, Toronto, Munich or Tokyo.
Well, this years Music and Media Conference accomplishes its mission of introducing new Austin, Texas area artists to the world in spectacular fashion, serving up a 3.16GB torrent download filled with 739 MP3s for you to sink your teeth into.
The Dagons(Rock) and the Mexican Institute of Sound (Lounge/Electronica) are two of my personal favorites from the collection, which at 37 hours of playing time made for a quite feat to discern.
I recommend you download it for yourself and have a listen, I promise you won’t be disappointed.When you do grab the songs, post the names of the artists you liked the most here, and let others know who they are. After all, the whole point of this BitTorrent download is to let others outside of Austin hear great new artists emerging from this new and vibrant music scene.
