“A number of Swedish file sharers have been reported to police for breach of copyright by the Swedish branch of record industry association IFPI.”
According to the Swedish news site The Local, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has stepped up its efforts to crack down on european Direct Connect Hubs as of late.
“The hub owners we have reported are involved in criminal activity, which clearly and intentionally damages all those who work with music,” said IFPI Sweden’s chairman Ludvig Werner in a statement.
For those that don’t already know, Direct Connect hubs are central servers to which a user’s client connects. The Hubs provide information about the clients, as well as file searching and chat capabilities. File transfers are done directly between clients, in true P2P fashion.
I’ve never used DC Hubs myself but, I know people that do and rave about them. I think I’ll stick to using BitTorrent myself.
