Obviously Yahoo WANTS to silence dissidents. What I say is foreign governments should have to prove their jurisdiction under U.S. law, and that the alleged act violates U.S. law, or service providers should not be allowed to hand over confidential data to any foreign governments under penalty of hefty fines and imprisonment.
We already have a law on the books, called the SPEECH Act, which is intended to prevent foreign governments from filing defamation lawsuits against U.S. citizens if the alleged act is protected under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
