i dont think that is that easy to do.

1. common carrier status makes it that they can lose their status if they start censoring.

2. p2p sites would just change their ip and domain names (spammer's anti filtering tactics)

3. terrorists could wreak havoc on the internet by tricking isps into thinking that legit sites are illegal .

I'm an Internet Anarchist. I'm willing to put up with crap in order to have my freedom. The controllers (the anti pornography people the FBI the CIA etc. and now the Record Companies) are trying to catch up to the technology. They will never succeed as the nerds and techies are always two steps ahead. Yes they can block a website or two but most of these people operate with multiple i.p. addresses and in multiple countries too. Internet Providers can no more monitor ALL of their customers than a cell phone company can monitor how all their customers use their phones (which by the way are now morphing into multiple purpose devicess. I'll bet THAT has them nervous.) They will never catch up And furthermore I think it's nobody's business what websites I visit or what I choose to share with others. The police belong on the streets where they are truely needed not sticking their noses in all of our personal business. (By the way Internet gambling should be allowed too. Viva ciber anarchy!)

there is a lot of laws that surround a company's right to facilitate advertize and operate on the internet. to come up with this little scare tactic is nothing more than a tease. however if they should make it so they can rest assured that there will be a lot of disgruntled and very angry people who might have less restraint than myself. Logically speaking they could wind up fighting a war they are neither prepared for nor one that they will win. its kinda like crashing a hacker website and thinking they wont counter attack. its just plain foolish.

i hope they have been keeping up with their insurance payments!

but i dont think this whole "blocking the websites"approach is realistic. besides there are a lot of things that can go wrong a lot of laws that have to be observed and there is a great many states and countries that will NOT agree to any of this nonsence.

im not worried. :)
