Has Sony gone mad? Prominent adult movie producer Digital Playground (site) says it is forced to use HD DVD instead of Blu-ray, because Sony does not allow XXX-rated movies to be released on Blu-ray.
It does not matter how you stand to porn. It is here and it is a massive business. It is also an industry that is an early adopter for new media technology. VHS might not have won with out the adult film industry adopting it.
German Heise has interviewed Joone the founder of Digital Playgrounds at the AVN 2007 show in Las Vegas. Joone says actually said last year he is committed to Blu-ray. Now they announced four HD DVD titles in the United States. In the interview Joone says he was forced to use HD DVD, because no Blu-ray disc manufacturer would make his discs, because Sony was against it and they would loose their license.

Sony just cannot seem to stop fucking up…. just go ahead and withdraw right now sony from disc manufacturing to the console race because you are killing yourselves.
Do they not know they are in dire straights? Do they think they have the power and weight that they used to have? Or are as influential as they used to be? They are loosing relevance FAST and it is their own damn fault and through their myopia they refuse to acknowledge this.

all they have to do is buy a a blue ray dvd recorder and blank media and make the movies on their own and sell them like the chinese counterfeiters do.
so basically you buy a porn movie and you get what looks like a pirated dvd meaning your dvd will be a blue ray dvdr
If we are talking bulk production a cd manufacturing plant can make them for a much cheaper price than buying a ton of spindles at the store.
Psilaxs well that’s ok since porn users spend millions maybe even billions yearly on porn the added cost would be worth it.
heck people even fall for tricks posing as porn resulting in viruses and spyware all in the hope of seeing a porn image over and over again.

i heard somthing to this extent about a year ago when the HDDVD and blue-ray battle was heating up. that VHS beat beta because of porn and though i was too young back then to remember anything it made perfect sence.

wasnt there an article here not too long ago about recordable BD disks being $50 or was that another site i read?
@Signa yes they are expensive but a porn addict wanting to get their next porn fix is willing to pay over $50 for their next porn fix. even if it means that that porn addict has to break into a car and rip open the dash and remove the stereo an d sell the stolen stereo on ebay or somethign for their next porn fix or turn to torrents for their porn fix
or the porn makers build a blur ray ready iso image and distribute it by torrent so the porn addicts can download it and burn it them self.
or trick sony into producing the content by encrypting the content so sony cant be able to view or it will appear as digital snow ( sort of like a corrupt dv file or dirty mini dv camera video heads ) it and withholding the decrypter from sony and then the makers sell the product and once the users got the disks then mail out the decryptor key or box so the user has to connect inline between the player and tv thereby sony would not find out until it is too late.
or like above have the dvd mastered with digital pasties in a seperate layer (sort of like the 3d glasses effect) then use the black box method to digitally remove the digital pasties so if sony does preview the content before producing it they would see a rated R level of sex and when the black box is connected the it de censors content and makes it full porn.
i just think its kind of silly i mean they know what an huge industry it is and sorry to bring it up but every guy here jacks of to porn atleast i think once in 3 days i think the statistics said well as i said they will proably be cut by the sword that cut them in the past i do think thought sony will survive this they did the first time but once again they might not be that huge company again
odd i just read in my EGM that porn was going to be on blu-ray.
