File-swapping police lean on ISPs

Scary report from News.com, where somehow record companies and movie studios have become as powerful as the law: “Like many other ISPs, it has started suspending accounts of people who have been identified by record companies or movie studios as file swappers.” Of all people though, Verizon has got it right: “Some ISPs, such as Verizon Communications, have refused to go this far, calling it a ‘drastic remedy that infringes on people’s rights and speech.’” *sigh* Just leave us alone.
