Are the Smashing Pumpkins trying to smash Piracy?

In an attempt to thwart music piracy, are the Smashing Pumpkins to blame for leaking fake demos onto numerous file-sharing websites?.

According to MTVe, “Collapsing Cities,” “The Restless Word,” “Siam Mais” and “In the Eyes Beholding” — were leaked as The Baker Demos.

The recently reunited band is working on a new studio album but fans are doubting the music’s authenticity, saying that “…the vocals allegedly sound nothing like those of frontman Billy Corgen.”

I haven’t come across these tracks myself but, then again I’m not a big Smashing Pumpkins fan.
