Flash Drives with Power

With the ability to run programs directly from your USB flash drive, the Cruzer Micro and Titanium USB Flash Drives have more gusto than your typical flash drive option.

The Titanium is reported to have up to 15MB per second speeds and with that, you can’t go wrong. Featuring embedded software on both drive options, this enables you to run programs that you load onto the drives.

Mix fast speeds and the ability to run programs and you have an excellent option when working on computers, helping others and sharing files.

Here is list of just a few of the U3-compatible programs (U3-compatibility is required to run programs directly from the drives but not to store files in general):

* Winamp

* OpenOffice.org

* ThinkFree Office, Portable Edition

* Shutterfly Studio

* Mozilla Thunderbird (one of my favorites!)

* Firefox Browser

* Skype

* Trillian

* Filezilla

* myPodder

And those are apparently just a few of the featured programs that will work on these drives. I found several other U3-compatible programs that aren’t listed here.

With the above advantages you gain capabilities but you also get features that increase productivity. Also, the drives come with pre-bundled software including Skype and a protective anti-virus that will keep the drive protected as you use it.

The Titanium comes in a 1GB to 2GB size while the Cruzer Micro comes in a 512MB to 4GB ranges. Price ranges from $34.99 to $179.99 and you can view product specification and order the drives on the SanDisk site.

But that’s not all, not only are you getting the benefit of being able to run programs directly from these drives and have protection from viruses, they are also very strong. The Titanium is able to withstand up to 2000 lbs. of crush force. They both measure 8.5mm x 20.8mm x 74.8mm (H x W x L) and have security measures to grant or restrict access while featuring a retractable USB adaptor, which eliminates the need to keep up with a small cap or cover.

The only negatives, as reported by ExtremeTech, is that the U3 software tends to lag or freeze at times and does not support Mac or Linux; also some programs are not compatible to play directly from the drives. But, as listed above, there are many not included in that list that will work. With a little research I imagine you can find almost any program you need to use.

Small, sleek and secure. What more can you ask for?
