If you’re looking for an easy and secure way to send large files to family and friends then Civil Netizen is the program for you.

It allows you to send files and folders up to 4GB in size and uses 128-bit AES encryption to secure your file transfers from the prying eyes of others.

It’s quite similar to being a “virtual UPS” of sorts, in that each transfer is allocated a parcel slip which you can then cut and paste and send via e-mail to your intended recipients, or you can send off a quick parcel slip using Outlook Express or whatever other desktop e-mail program you use.

Best of all, it doesn’t come bundled with any adware or spyware that is so typically included with most free file-sharing programs.

From the site:

From small files such as family photos and business documents, to large files such as production files and multimedia assets, we know how important your files are to you.
Whether for personal or professional use, Civil Netizen helps you with data transfer for files up to 4GB in size through a simple drag-and-drop interface. No more FTP clients, zip utilities, encryption programs, and download managers. Your files are now 100% private and secure.
Best of all, Civil Netizen will always be free for unlimited use. Absolutely no adware or spyware.

When to use Civil Netizen instead of e-mail attachments
Choose Civil Netizen when your files are either:

How Does the Process Work?
1. Pack

Start by packaging parcel content by dragging and dropping files or folders into the main window of the client. You can place single files or folders in any combination that does not exceed the 4GB size limit.

Then move on by sleeting the “Package Parcel” tab on the bottom right-hand portion of the client. Your package will then be prepared for transfer.

2. Send

You then must choose how you wish to send your parcel “pickup slip.”

The first choice is to send it via your desktop e-mail program.

The second choice is to use another messaging program like Skype, AIM, etc..

For this option select “View Pickup Slip” in order to cut and paste the pickup slip text into any chat or messaging program.

3. Pickup

In order to pickup a parcel, you can use the parcel pickup slip text,or you can click the pickup slip file that was included in the e-mail that was sent to you.

4. Unpack

To unpack the parcel, simply click the “Download Parcel” tab on the right-hand bottom portion of the client.

This will being your parcel download.

5. Track

You can monitor the status of your parcels by choosing the “Track Status” tab.

Civil Netizen makes for a great way to quickly and easily send large and small files in an easy and securely protected manner. It eliminates the need for FTP clients and all the usual password and username headaches. You can grab and send files and folders with little prep or software configuration.

You can also transfer files with GigaTribe (www.gigatribe.com). It uses 128-bit blowfish encryption and there’s NO FILE SIZE LIMIT!!!!!! Interrupted transfers ALSO resume with no-data loss!
