It's been mentioned here before but, the Mvix Multimedia Player and also the Mvix Media Center both warrant another look. With people increasingly acquiring broadband connections at home and thereby better speeds with which to download movies and other large video content, the need for a convenient and user friendly means of viewing this material has never been greater. In addition to movies you can always also download video and audio clips from TouTube, MySpace, or whatever other site you choose and then watch them on the TV with your friends. You could even make a "best of" session and check out some of the funnier "spills and thrills" clips out there and watch them your family or friends over a few beers. MvixUSA offers 2 types of portable units that allow users to "plug and play" content downloaded from the internet and then transferred to it from their PC. You don't have to deal with any CODECS, video conversion, or the usual VCD or DVD burning issues. You simply plug a plain old USB connection into your PC from the Mvix unit and then drag and drop the files you wish to watch. No more worrying about the quality loss in a 720MB XVID video that you had to convert to VCD because you were either out of DVDs or couldn't afford them. Also, no more hassling with converting that XVID file into MPEG-2 for burning onto DVD. You no doubt downloaded the movie quickly and easily so why not be able to watch it just as quickly and easily, and do so in the comfort of your living room instead of from behind your PC? To boot, surely your TV screen is bigger than the 19 inches that typifies most users PC screens, so why settle for less especially with "screener" season fast approaching? Mvix offers two types of units which are basically the same except for the FM Transmitter feature that is incorporated in the MV-5000U Multimedia Center model From the MvixUSA site: Enjoy your movies on TVYou can enjoy your favorite movies and home videos on TV, because Mvix supports numerous video formats including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, AVI, DivX 3.11, 4x, 5x, XVID, DVD(IFO,VOB), and VCD(DAT) etc. Digital Photo PlayerMviX can store and play digital photo files and display them on your TV or projector. Store JPEG photos directly from a PC through the USB 2.0 interface and enjoy a slide show with your family and friends without using a computer. Digital Music BoxMvix can play various audio files such as AC3, MP2, MP3, DTS pass through, WMA, OGG through the TV speakers or your existing audio system. The FM Transmitter feature that is included with the MV-5000U model allows you to broadcast audio to an FM frequency of your choice (four channels to choose from). This eliminates the need for audio cables when you connect the unit to your TV, assuming of course you are using a stereo receiver to play your audio feed into the first place. The FM Transmitter also allows you to use play audio files stored on the unit while traveling in your car or boat. With a potential storage capacity limited only by the 3.5" HDD you insert into the unit, you could have access to you entire music Liberia ,which could mean tens of thousands of songs and hours upon hours of listening experience. Revisiting some of the neater features of the Mvix media center, I included three of few my favorite here to follow. The first is the fact that it comes with a remote so once you plug it into the back of your TV, a video jack, and left / right audio jacks, you can sit back and control the media center with the touch of a remote. It offers all the functionality of a regular remote, with volume control, fast-forward, rewind, stop, pause, etc. It also has a zoom feature as well. The second is the fact that, which can be easily overlooked, that you could use it as in external data storage device as well. Though not able to do anything with them on the media center, of course, one can still put data on it for later retrieval and so too justify buying it as way to have a backup storage location. Too boot, you can literally use the Mvix media center to hold an endless amount of video, audio, image, or even data files, and literally take and play or transfer them anywhere. Thirdly, if you take a look at the picture below, it shows the menu that will appear on your TV screen after you plug-in and power up the device. It shows just how easy the Mvix media center allows you to hear and watch all of your favorite video and audio files from the comfort of your living rather than from behind a desktop PC. Using the remote, you simple scroll down the menu list and select whatever it is that you wish to play. Forgot a video or something just finish downloading? All you have to is power it off real quick, plug it into your PC, drag and drop, and reconnect to your TV. No annoying converting or burning is necessary with this little bad boy. Again the cool thing about the Mvix Player is that it bridges the gap between your PC and TV in a very convenient and easy manner. No more burning, nor more converting, no more wasting "screeners" by watching them on a 19 inch PC screen. Mvix is actually even running a deal right now where you can get the MV-5000U plus a 400GB HDD for only like 300 bucks. Not a bad deal at all. |
