The Dutch court ruling in favor of Kazaa BV’s distribution of file-trading software is a huge step in the other direction (the right direction) as far as the copy-protection war goes. But while the Dutch ruling essentially has the same meaning as the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1984 Betamax ruling, the Dutch ruling may not have much influence on this side of the Atlantic.
