SNOCAP, the first end-to-end provider of digital licensing, copyright management services and artist distribution for the digital music marketplace, today announced licensing deals with a number of leading independent music companies. As part of the agreements, the companies will upload and register their extensive music catalogs into SNOCAP’s Digital Registry, expanding the distribution of their content to include SNOCAP-powered artist stores and online retailers.
Companies that have reached agreements with SNOCAP include The Orchard, CD Baby, Baby New Year, Big Fish Media, Panartist, Redeye Distribution and Virtual Label. In addition, leading independent record labels that have recently reached recent agreements with SNOCAP include Acony Records, Epitaph Records, Flat Town Music, Goin’ Native, Groove Source, Koch Records, Memphis Industries, Metropolitan Hybrid, Pravda, Sound Choice, Toucan Cove and Zebralution.
SNOCAP’s easy-to-use web-based interface will allow these companies to clear and manage their licensing rights across multiple retail destinations. It will simplify the process for their artists to create digital storefronts on their websites or MySpace or other social networking sites.
“These companies offer a tremendous range of indie music that will be a great addition to the content in SNOCAP’s Digital Registry,” said Rusty Rueff, chief executive officer for SNOCAP. “We’re thrilled to help extend the reach for these valued partners and see them take full advantage of our partnership with MySpace that enables bands to sell music directly from their profiles or websites.”
“The digital music revolution has empowered independent artists to reach a global audience in new and innovative ways,” said Greg Scholl, chief executive of The Orchard. “SNOCAP, particularly with their landmark relationship with MySpace, is positioned to transform digital retail even further, and The Orchard looks forward to working with our artists and labels to take full advantage of this powerful new sales and discovery platform.”
