Written at the top of the Consumer Broadband and Digital Television Promotion Act (CBDTPA): “The Congress finds: (1) The lack of high quality digital content continues to hinder consumer adoption of broadband Internet service and digital television products.” Now you tell me: (1) Does that sound like government intervention on behalf of the people our Congressmen are supposed to represent? (2) Or does that sound like copy-protection for the single intention of increasing the archaic media empire’s revenue flow, and hence, a congressman’s wallet through soft money or under the table “contributions”? I’d have to say #2 is the obvious answer. Why don’t more people see that? Click here for the full story at Salon.com.
